-(audience whistling) For a few years, everybody that I came in contact with were just really trying to take advantage of me 'cause I was really young and innocent.
They were all older men and everybody wanted to be my mentor, my big bro.
And they were all really trying to take advantage of me.
So, for a few years, I was just going through Hell.
It wasn't until I met Ori that I finally felt like I found a partner that I could write, create music with.
And he wasn't just somebody trying to take something from me or use me for their benefit.
Like, we met at a time where we needed each other as artistic partners, and I got him to get my sisters on, and everything suddenly just fell into place.
So it was, I learned a lot through those dark years, and I wouldn't change anything 'cause it made me, I'm a tough girl now, you know?
(laughs) I know the game, nobody can get over on me.
I've heard it all.
I came in a completely different mindset like an immigrant.
I came from Israel on a artist visa, and I was just really trying to build a career for myself, and do it in the most genuine way.
And that's how we met, when I changed things up with my band and hired her and TK to play in my band.
But really, in two or three months, we kind of became partners, and came up with Southern Avenue, and really became a band very quickly.
I had just bought my first drum set ever.
My family, we're all musical, but I had never owned my own kit.
We had always had a music room.
We always had gear in the house.
And one day, Tier was like, "Hey, I met this guy.
-He has an accent."
-(Ori laughs) "He wants you to be, uh, do you wanna be in this band and play the drums?"
And I was like, "Sure."
And she was like, "Okay, he's gonna give you a call."
And I was like, 'cause at the time, I was 19, I was very young.
I had already been doing the music stuff for maybe two years up until that point.
But at that point, I was like, "Sure, why not?"
And so, one thing led to another, and we got to the point where we were creating music, and about to record music, you know?
It has been very quick.
We got signed within seven, eight months.
Not even a full year of knowing each other.
We already found ourselves like with a record label, with record contract in front of us.
Yeah, no, everything is very meant to be.
Everything is very much, you know, very, like everything is meant to be, and happens right at the right time.
But we think, I think personally, once Ava joined, we have a whole, this album is the beginning of- -Like I said, y'all.
-What our sound is.
We're just grateful for every opportunity that we get to do what we love.
When something magical happens, when we get up here on stage in moments like these and we see your smiling faces, it fills us up with so much purpose, and it gives us so much love, and it's a specific kind of love that we couldn't get anywhere else in the world.
Only here, right here in this moment, in rooms like this with people like you.
So we wanna send all that love back out there to you, and that's what this next song is about.
Whether you have to dig for it in the little places, and the little things, or whether you get big love everywhere you go.
We wish you to feel as good as you make us feel, filled with so much love.

-(audience applauding) ♪ We're gonna make it ♪ (gentle guitar music) (audience cheering and applauding) I think that growing up in Memphis, and how you express yourself, and how you feel music, and how you feel rhythm, and all of that, I feel like that's embedded in us naturally.
And so, when you go out in your different endeavors, and what you, regardless of what genre you're playing, those qualities and those characteristics are gonna show out in whatever you're doing.
So, it is like you're still, you're always representing Memphis 'cause it's embedded in you.
And I think that the quality of musicianship, and the quality of being in touch with a spiritual experience or a spiritual entity, I think that that's something that Memphis has so deeply, that runs so deeply, that if I'm playing classical music or if I'm playing bluegrass, if I'm playing any genre, it is going to show, like it's going to have its reference.
And I think as long as we're in pursuit of expanding within ourselves because it's in there, it is going to show up.
And these are our roots.
So it's not just about the legacy of the city, it's about the music that my mother and my father put into us, and my father's from North Mississippi.
And you know, so it's just like my mom playing the organ, and it's not just about the legacy of Memphis, but our roots is a part of this legacy.
And so it is important that we preserve everything in all of its greatness.
And we stay true to, you know, what we do.
But I think we are just a Southern band because you get not just the Southern rock, but you get the blues and the Gospel, and you get, you know, the soul, get a little bit of jazz influence.
But we're just a Southern band in the South.
You get the roots, so you get the foundation to it all.
Thank you so much, y'all.
Let's give it up for the band.
My baby sisters Ava Jackson, TK Jackson on set.
-Matt Wilson on base.
-(gentle bass music) -Ori Naftaly on lead.
-(audience cheering) My name is Tierinii, and we ain't from too far.
We're right up the street from Memphis, y'all.
And we're so happy to be here with you guys.
You know, Memphis, Tennessee, is where my sisters and I were born and raised, very sheltered church kids, and only allowed to listen to Gospel music.
But you know, I had big dreams of being a big star.
So when I was about 19 years old, I got myself in a whole lot of trouble with my family and with the church because I wanted to pursue secular music, sang the blues, you know?
And they weren't having it.
So I left home.
But when I left home, I didn't have anything but a dream.
I didn't have a car, a job, plans, friends.
I just went with my dream, and I went down on Bill Street, thinking they were gonna let me sing.
I was gonna make some of myself.
I got down there, and all the men looked at me and laughed.
This bright-eyed church girl that didn't know any blues songs.
They said, "Girl, this is Bill Street.
If you wanna sing on world-famous Bill Street, you gotta sing the blues, and you gotta know how to sing it."
So, I went, I learned a few blues tunes.
I came back the next night, and I smashed.
I went, and I learned a few more tunes.
I came back the next night, and I smashed.
And I did that every single night until I became a blues woman.
And I learned how to have a good time.
-You know what I'm saying?
