Well, let me get that straight, 'cause I've been noticing you on social media traveling all over the world.

Thank you for making a place in your schedule for us.

So, you've been traveling all over the world.
You just got back not long ago from where?
- Africa.
- All right, what part?
- We went to Kenya.
- Kenya.
Have you been there before?
- Oh yeah.
We go twice a year.

And what do you do when you go there?
- Well, we give out Bibles, we preach the gospel.
- Uh-huh.
- We try to help the people in whatever way we can.

Well, I heard you've been over there ringing chicken mix.
(Carol chuckles) Tell me a little bit about that now.
- Well, they asked us what we wanted to eat and so, - Uh-huh.
- we all thought chicken would be the safest thing to eat.
- Uh-huh.
- And so, they send the kids outside and catch a few chickens and bring 'em in, and asked us which one we wanted to eat.
- Uh-huh.
Right.
- So, we were all looking at each other.
- Uh-huh, uh-huh.
- Okay.
(laughs) - Well- - But they were good.
- I heard the chicken council got together and they said whenever that group comes, let's hide, (Carol chuckles) because our lives are on the line.
(both laughing) All right, well, the chicken, all the chicken died so you can live.
(both laughing) See, I know you're sensitive, so you didn't really want that to happen like that, right?
- No.
- Thought you were just gonna go to the store and get some chicken and (faintly speaks) - Well, we knew it was gonna be rough when we went, but you know, that's- - I'm gonna have to pray for you.
- Gospel goes- - Every time you show up, chickens disappear.

- I'm from Collinsville.

- No, I was born in Mobile.

- I've been in Collinsville probably about maybe 35 years.

104 years young.
That's right.
Her name is Miss Bessie Ruth Caldwell.
She's in Birmingham, Alabama in the Tittusville community.
She is a member of the Tittusville AOH Church of God.
She was born March 12th, 1922.
Got a lot of twos in there.
And that's the number of agreement.
She's a mother of five children, nine grandchildren, and one great-grand.
Wow, carrying on the tradition.
She's a second grade teacher at two elementary schools in the Birmingham area, Hudson School and Goings Elementary.
And she graduated from Miles College.
Go, Bears.
And UAB.
Go, Blazers.
She's a wonderful woman, loves God.
And she was a musician for the church.
And she writes poetry too.
I bet you didn't know that.
So, tonight, we salute you, Miss Bessie Ruth Caldwell.
We love you, appreciate you, and all your family church members and all your students that you ever taught, they want you to know that they love you.
