Listen, I really always enjoy the originality that you bring from the heart, the songs that you sing, and the stick-to-itness that you have, 'cause when you have a group, sometimes people come, people go, don't you?
- Yes, that's, it is.
- And you have to lay awake at night thinking, okay, who have I heard that might fit in this spot, and who can I call?
And then you call people, right?
- I try to.
- And how do you beg 'em when you call?
- Well, it's not a beg.
I just say, "The Lord spoke to me."
- Ah, okay, you can't ever beat that one.
You can't ever beat that one right there.
- You gotta keep it original.
- Yeah.
What can you say, how can you say no to that, right?
- That's right.
- Right.
I see, man.
Look at you wearing your hat.
You're something else.
When you gonna get your hat?
I had to start in August.
(laughs) True story.
- Look, I got you beat.
I have to start 12 months ahead of time and still don't get there.
- I saw someone gave you a gift, and I didn't have time, so what I did do- - Uh-oh.
- I'm trying to hold that right here.
- Uh-oh.
Let me stand over here, hold up.
- I went and picked you a pepper.
That's all I got.
- He picked a pepper.
- It's either that or or some grass out in the back.
- Okay, and since you're laughing, you're gonna have to eat it on set, okay?
(laughs) Great, well, listen.
The songs, all the songs you're doing today are original?
- Yes, sir.
- Great, great.
- Yes, sir.
- And that first one you did was awesome too.
I know all of 'em are awesome.
- Yeah, that's a true story.
It was in a cornfield, about the dusk, and I didn't realize that the road ran out, and the car went airborne, so.
- Wow, wow.
Okay, well, I tell you what.
Why don't you introduce everybody before we go, okay?
And then I'm gonna turn you loose and let you do some more singing.

- And I can't wait to tell the people the lineage that you come from, the late doctor, Professor Carlton Reese, renowned throughout the whole world- - Oh.
- For his music and creativity.
You are his daughter.
- Yes, I am his daughter, yes.
- I probably remember the early years more than you do.
And as I always tell you, I guess you're getting tired of me telling you- - Oh, no.
- I remember when he used to bring y'all in and let you stand in a chair and sing.
And I knew then that I hoped that you would keep what he was putting into you, and you have kept it.
- Yes, sir.
I'm singing with the Carlton Reese Memorial Unity Choir.
- Mm-hmm.
- And we have a job to still do from the 1960s movement, which was the original choir from the Alabama Christian Movement for Human Rights Choir, and now the Carlton Reese Memorial Unity Choir.
And we do have a CD- - All right.
- That we have recently recorded.
- Well, I'll tell you what we're gonna do.
We'll do this on our post production.
I'll make sure we get a picture up, okay?

- Well, I've been singing for about 45 years, but I just come up with a name about five years ago.

- All right, tell me where you're from, Brother Allen.
- I'm not too far down the road, around the... I have a Warrior address, but I really live in a little town called Bradford, Alabama.
- Bradford, Bradford, Alabama.
Okay, and that's where you were born?
That's where I was born and raised, been there 67 years.
- Oh, wow.
Beautiful people down there.
What church do you remember down there?
- I go to, you've been there before, the log church over in Warrior, Holy Ground Worship Center.
- Yeah, yeah, we had a great time over there.
- Sure did.
- All right, well, I tell you what.
