Learn Moreabout PBS online sponsorshipGUEST: I got this clock at a online estate sale.
They said it was, um, a early-1800s pub clock, and I thought that sounded cool.
And so I ended up getting it for $105 and then went to the house and picked it up.
APPRAISER: That's great.
I-it's a fabulous little English pub clock in a mahogany case with this brass inlay.
Excellent dial condition.
It's signed by Jonathan Bishop, the clockmaker.
Gravesend, England is the town in which it was made.
Probably a little later than you think.
I think it's probably made, like, around 1860 or so.
GUEST: Okay.
APPRAISER: It's a really high-quality brass movement that's in it.
But it's a really nice little size.
It's undersized, and that sells.
A normal size would be about another, probably, eight inches longer and a bigger dial, maybe a 12-inch dial.
But this is just fantastic because of its size.
It's a great little clock.
In a retail situation, this clock would probably bring around $800 to $1,200, in that range.
GUEST: Oh, very nice.
APPRAISER: Yeah.
GUEST: Very nice.
APPRAISER: So what a great deal for you.
GUEST: That is.
